70% of our body is water. Water is needed for us to survive. Rain replenishes the earth and allows for crops to grow. We were born of the Ocean. We bathe in water, we drink water, we play in water.
Almost every civilization has access to some sort of water. And so, almost every civilization has some sort of God or Goddess of Water, whether it be a God of the Sea or a Goddess of the Rivers.
Deities of the Water are usually intensely motherly or intensely fatherly and very protective over their worshipers. This parent-like quality tends to be very attractive to a Pagan searching for their Matron or Patron.
Combining the necessity of Water in our lives with the nature of Water Divine, it’s easy to see why we Pagans are attracted to Them.
